ips and ricks for ampire angs

This is a quicky, all the steps are there, I just didn't spend as much time on them as I could/should have. The more time you spend sanding, the better your fangs will look.

utting the outh:

  • Use a smiling doll that shows teeth.
  • Use a 'wedge' shaped exacto blade, or a very very pointy one.
  • Start at the center of the bottom lip - just where the teeth meet the lip line.
  • You're not removing the teeth, only separating them from the bottom lip.
  • Push with steady pressure - don't saw.
  • Cut just to the corner of the mouth, and then repeat from the center again.
  • Be CAREFUL - the plastic right at the center is over a 1/4" thick, the plastic at the corners is barely there - don't let your cutting get away from you.
  • Once you have the slit cut, use an emery board if necessary to sand the bottom lip 'shelf' smooth.
  • When you're finished it should look something like this:
ainting:
  • Again, do as I say, not as I do here - *grin*
  • Outline the lips in your darker color (think lip liner). I used a brick red because I was being lazy.
  • Precision MATTERS - keep a toothpick with a bit of cotton wrapped on the end and a bit of rubbing alcohol handy to make sure you have clean lines.
  • Fill in the lips with your 'main' color - I used a bright red.
  • Paint your teeth using a cream..... please, please, pretty please don't use white.
  • Thin your paints well with an extender, or water, so you have clear smooth color - if it doesn't take you 3-4 coats to get a 'solid' cream on the teeth, your paint is too thick.

he angs:
  • Ohh, you've been so patient! *grin*
  • Break out two FLAT toothpicks.
  • SAND the bigger end of the each toothpic into a 'wedge' - the more you sand, the better the points of your fangs. This is the most important step of the entire process here!
  • Alrighty - all beautiful? - excellent deal - now - paint the fangs (in cream) onto the very tip, and paint the area behind them a brick red.
  • Cut the toothpics off about 1/4" from the painted end. - sand the cut end (carefully, add more paint if necessary)
  • Pick up the fangs with tweezers and very lightly draw a line of glue across the top and bottom.
  • Squeeze bab's face so the cut section opens and using tweezers insert the fangs. - you want the outside edge as far to the side as possible and angled toward the inside so the inside tips almost meet in the center.
  • Taa Daa! - fangs!

Well - like I said, mine were quick and dirty - but that's how it's done! - you can see at the top where I didn't sand enough, and again at the tips, same problem - more sanding would have made them lovely, but .... I was impatient, and I only made them to be able to make this tutorial so...... forgive me?
